Rutherford, who has played 119 times for us and netted 61 goals in that time has lead the line for the club this season, following his well-documented double-surgery last year.

When reflecting on his time at the club Alfie mentioned ” I can’t thank the gaffer and the fans for all of their support in the last 12 months. We have had some fantastic times together and here’s to many more.” He also added ” I am buzzing to sign a new deal with this amazing club and I have loved every minute since I joined”.

Marc White added: ” Alfie is a firm fixture and fitting of the club and has been a part of our biggest successes. His loyalty to myself and the fans is unwavered, he has shown incredible spirit and courage to come through absolute adversity. Undergoing two operations in 15 months to return and we are delighted that Alfie has extended his contract.”

Chief Executive, Jonathan Bines was delighted with the news and added “We are working hard to ensure we are planning ahead and are organised in everything we do. The top priority for us is always the make up of the squad, so we are delighted to already be securing Alfie for another year. Footballing wise, the news speaks for itself I’m sure. I find I’m repeating myself quite often on this, but we set out a strategy at the start of the season as to the type of player we want and what we want the squad to look like. Alfie absolutely embodies that criteria. Securing him for another season is therefore fantastic news.”
