The club are delighted to announce the signing of winger Jack Wood.

Jack, pictured above in our new cult classic home shirt, began his career with the likes of Berkhamsted FC and Kings Langley in the seventh tier, making appearances at the age of 17. In January 2022, Wood made the move to National League side Southend United, hitting the ground running with a hat-trick against Bishop’s Stortford during pre-season in 2023. Early in his career with the Shrimpers, Jack spent time on loan at Tonbridge Angels, netting eight goals during a short-term spell.

The youngster then went on to gain valuable game time in the National League with the Essex side during the 2023/24 season, scoring three times, including a solo goal against Aldershot which won Southend United’s Goal of the Month award for February 2024. During the 2024/25 campaign, Jack had loan spells with both Torquay United and Tonbridge Angels for a second time, before joining Walton & Hersham following the expiration of his contract with Southend.

Wood played a pivotal role in the Walton & Hersham side that were crowned Southern League Premier South champions last season. On his debut for the Swans, he scored four times in a 6–3 triumph over Plymouth Parkway. In a historic season for the North Surrey club, Jack accumulated 17 goals in 48 appearances before making the 18-mile journey south to join the Wanderers.

On making the deal happen, Jack said:

“When I got a phone call from Marc, it was an easy decision to be honest. Once you know Dorking are interested it’s hard to turn that down, everyone knows about Dorking and the attention around it, I’m so pleased to be joining.”

Manager and Chairman Marc White added :

“Jack is a really exciting player and someone we believe will suit the way we play perfectly. Last season we saw the physical demands placed on our wide players, who are absolutely pivotal to our style, with both Dennon and Jimmy suffering injuries at different stages. Jack comes in to strengthen us in those areas, and his versatility to play in several positions makes him a huge asset for the squad.

He’s also a great lad who fits the profile of what we’re building here in terms of lowering the age of the group. We’re delighted to have him on board.”
