Following collaborative discussions, Dorking Wanderers F.C. (DWFC) and Surrey Football Association (SFA) are pleased to jointly announce that we have reached an agreement in principle for Dorking Wanderers to take on the operating lease of Meadowbank Football Ground, subject to Council approval and contract.
This agreement follows a period of close collaboration between both organisations, underpinned by a shared vision to build on the stadium’s existing success and further enhance its role in supporting community football.
Surrey FA have been instrumental in developing the site into the leading football venue in Surrey and this moment marks the next step in Meadowbank’s journey. Surrey FA will continue to be based at their Meadowbank Offices whilst working closely with Dorking Wanderers to enhance community football in the town. The acquisition of the lease will enable DWFC to continue developing Meadowbank Stadium as a vibrant hub for football at all levels — from grassroots participation through to senior competition.
A spokesperson for Dorking Wanderers F.C. said: “This is a landmark moment for the Club and the town. We are incredibly proud to be taking on the lease at Meadowbank Stadium, and we are grateful to Surrey FA for their support and collaboration throughout this process. We would also like to thank Mole Valley District Council for its constructive engagement throughout this process and we look forward to continuing to work with the Council as the proposal progresses through the necessary approvals. This deal allows us to build for the future with confidence and continue investing in facilities for players, supporters, and the local community.”
Soye Briggs – Chair, Surrey FA added: “Having developed and responsibly managed Meadowbank over many years, Surrey FA are pleased to hand stewardship of the site to Dorking Wanderers to support their ongoing evolution. Having achieved significant success on the pitch, a clear commitment to supporting local football partners and to serving the local community, we believe this is the right time for Dorking Wanderers to take on the facility. This represents a positive outcome for Surrey FA and grassroots football across the County, enabling us to reinvest proceeds into growing the game, developing new hub sites and expanding access to high‑quality facilities.”
