Welcome to the first Wanderers Medical Update, a new feature designed to keep supporters informed about the progress and recovery of players currently unavailable through injury. Head of Performance, Jake Foster provides the latest news from the treatment room, including updates on each player’s rehabilitation and their progress towards returning to action.

This week has brought positive progress for every player currently on the injured list. All injured players are now required to complete a revamped and rigorous return to training protocol developed by the performance team. The revised process is designed to reduce the club’s overall injury rate while, importantly, minimising the risk of recurring injuries.

Harry Pinchard | Knee | Expected Return – October

Harry has responded extremely well to the first injection in his knee and remains on schedule for his planned return to training and return to play dates. He has been gradually increasing his workload and is very keen to get back on the pitch and become involved with the team as soon as his fitness allows. Harry has followed his recovery protocol to the letter, as you would expect from the professional he is, helping him to progress at the best possible rate.

Josh Taylor | ACL | Expected Return – October

Josh has also progressed extremely well under the guidance of Paul and Dillon. He returned to running in recent weeks and will look to continue building on this progress in the weeks ahead. Josh remains on course for his predicted return date, with all members of the backroom staff working tirelessly to ensure he returns as soon as it is safe for him to do so.

Jimmy Muitt | Knee | Expected Return – Towards end of September

Jimmy is progressing well and has been incredibly diligent throughout his rehabilitation. We will wait until the end of the week before gaining a complete picture of his expected return timeframe, but we anticipate that Jimmy will progress quickly once his full rehabilitation programme restarts.

Dan Gallagher | Back | Expected Return – Late October to early November

Dan will be looking to return to training following the conclusion of pre season. Dan has been itching to get back into training and onto the pitch. He has remained ever present at training, helping to motivate his teammates and supporting the new signings in understanding the tactical aspects of how we play.

Dennon Lewis and Louie Annesley returned to training later than the rest of the group due to the longer term injuries they sustained towards the end of last season. Both players have progressed very well throughout pre season. However, with the new level of fitness across the group, they currently find themselves slightly behind their teammates after completing two weeks of modified training loads to prepare them for the season. Both players are available to feature going forward as they continue working towards the high standards set by the rest of the playing squad.
