We claimed all three points this afternoon with a 1-0 victory over Truro City at Meadowbank – our first home win of the league season.

The visitors had the first chance of the game, with Omar Bogle heading over from the penalty spot after connecting with a cross from the left-hand side of the box.

The visitors continued to build momentum as Truro hit the bar directly from a left-sided corner, with the ball flying over Glenn Morris before being kept out by the woodwork.

We limited Truro’s attacking threat and grew into the game, with Dawid Rogalski and Alfie Rutherford linking up. Rogalski won a duel before sliding the ball through to Rutherford, but his shot from the edge of the box was deflected behind for a corner.

A few minutes later, we threatened again through Harry Pinchard, who curled a shot towards goal from the right side of the box, forcing the visitors’ goalkeeper into a strong save. The ball was then cleared off the line to prevent Louis Annesley from heading home from a yard out.

Truro received the first yellow card of the game, with Will Dean going into the referee’s book for dragging down Alfie Rutherford on the halfway line and denying us a counter-attack.

Five minutes later, a second Truro player was booked. Ben Starkie was shown a yellow card by referee Zac Cunningham for handling Josh Barrett’s flick-on.

The highlight of the first half came when Louis Annesley carried the ball forward 45 yards during a counter-attack from a Truro corner, causing the assistant referee to tumble over on the far side as he tried to keep up with our centre-half.

Just before half-time, we had another effort on goal, with summer signing Josh Barrett curling a shot narrowly wide from the edge of the box.

HALF-TIME: DORKING WANDERERS 0-0 TRURO CITY

The visitors went close shortly after the restart. Truro City’s Harvey Greenslade struck the post, leaving Glenn Morris flat-footed and beaten, but the score remained level as the visitors were denied by the woodwork for a second time.

Ten minutes into the second half, we created a chance when Dan Pybus delivered an excellent cross from the left-hand side towards Brennan Camp, who headed over the bar from 15 yards.

We continued to apply pressure, with Alfie Rutherford, Dawid Rogalski and Jack Wood combining well. Rogalski played Wood through down the right wing, but his low, right-footed cross was deflected behind for a corner.

The chances kept coming, with substitute George Nikaj heading a Harry Forster delivery wide of the target.

With 20 minutes remaining, Nikaj turned his defender inside the box before seeing a weak shot across goal saved.

Straight away at the other end, Truro had a great chance to break the deadlock, with the unmarked Tyler Harvey heading wide from nine yards.

A few minutes later, the visitors forced an excellent save from Glenn Morris after En-Neyah struck a clean volley towards goal from the edge of the box, but our number one was alert to keep the score level.

The final 10 minutes were quiet until we forced the visitors back and won two corners in quick succession in the closing stages.

From the second, the ball fell nicely towards the back post, where an unmarked George Francomb struck across goal and into the back of the net, sending Meadowbank into raptures as we snatched victory against a well-organised Truro City side. 92′ 1-0

FULL-TIME: DORKING WANDERERS 1-0 TRURO CITY

After a closely contested game, we claimed all three points at Meadowbank for the first time this season, making it two wins on the bounce thanks to George Francomb’s winner at the death.

We now look ahead to Saturday, when we travel to face Billericay Town, aiming to continue our winning form, make it three consecutive victories and keep climbing the table.
